El nostre Ofici
Qui neix cineasta ve amb una urgència: utilitzar o fabricar imatges per testimoniar la Història, transmetre la sorpresa, els somnis, la Poesia. Això no és nou, sempre ha estat així ... el narrador que ens va precedir, el més remot, aprofundeix en el misteri dels temps. Ho va fer Déu com una eina per explicar la seva obra, la creació, la vida.
Jo diria que la primera projecció la va provocar l'estela errant d'una estrella i el primer narrador va ser aquest llunyà pare que en veure-la transcórrer li va transmetre la sorpresa d'aquesta meravella al seu circumstancial company amb un gest, perquè encara no s'havia afinat la paraula.
Passat el temps va embastar el so i li va dir estrella a l'estrella i va narrar la seva caiguda, i al foc, foc i va descriure per espantar-nos l'infern i va suavitzar el so i li va narrar la vida i va brollar algun cant i els va parlar de les flors, de l'amor i els seus fruits. Dia a dia va anar millorant la tècnica de la fascinació i la sorpresa i va dir: “Jo vull que no s'acabi l'Home” i ho va gravar a la pedra i va passar el temps i va traçar la seva aventura a les coves d'Altamira, però no en va tenir prou, i amb els segles va dibuixar la paraula i la va incrustar a l'argila.
És així com avui romanen els nostres remots somnis i els déus que foren. Els imperis nascuts “per sempre” i que avui són sorra...
Aquest és el nostre ofici... testimoniar el plor, testimoniar la història, cantar-li a la passió, a la poesia: ser memòria.

Our Job
The person who was born to become a filmmaker has an urgent desire: to use or create images to bear witness to history, to transmit astonishment, dreams, poetry. This is not new, it has always been like this… the narrator who preceded us, even the most distant, has delved into the mystery of the ages. God did this as a tool for relating his work, creation, life.
I would say that the first showing was prompted by the wandering trail of a star and the first narrator was that distant father who, on seeing it happen, transmitted his astonishment at witnessing such a wonderful thing to his chance companion with a gesture, because the word to describe it still had not been perfected.
Time passed and he attached the sound to the word and he called a star a star, and he told about its fall, and he named fire, fire, and described hell to frighten us, and he softened the sound and told him about life and he produced a chant and he told them about flowers, love and its fruits. Day by day, he improved the technique of fascination and astonishment and said, “I do not want Man to die out” and he scraped that on stone and time went by, and he drew his adventure in the Caves of Altamira, but that was not enough and as centuries passed by, he drew words and set them in clay.
This is how today our distant dreams and the gods they used to be still remain . Empires that arose “for ever” and now are just sand…
This is our job… to bear witness to crying, to testify to history, to sing the praises of passion, and of poetry: to become memory.
